Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced and driven General Manager to lead our full-service automotive repair shop in New Martinsville, WV. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who can oversee daily operations, drive business growth, deliver exceptional customer service, and ensure profitability. You will be responsible for managing the entire operation — from team performance and customer experience to financials, car count, and upselling — while maintaining high standards in automotive repair quality and shop efficiency.This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to build a successful, customer-focused automotive business.Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Daily Operations & Leadership: Oversee all shop activities, manage staff scheduling, workflow, and ensure efficient daily operations.
- Financial Management: Handle daily accounting, cash management, inventory tracking, expense control, and profitability. Prepare and review daily/weekly reports.
- Customer Care & Experience: Deliver outstanding customer service, address concerns, build loyalty, and maintain high customer satisfaction scores.
- Sales & Growth: Drive car count, maximize upselling opportunities (repairs, maintenance, accessories), and meet or exceed sales and revenue targets.
- Team Management: Hire, train, coach, and motivate technicians and service advisors. Conduct performance reviews and foster a positive, productive shop culture.
- Quality Control: Ensure all repairs meet industry standards and manufacturer guidelines. Oversee shop cleanliness, safety, and organization.
- Inventory & Vendor Management: Manage parts inventory, supplier relationships, and cost control.
- Marketing & Community Presence: Help promote the business locally and build strong relationships in the New Martinsville area.
- Compliance: Maintain adherence to all safety, environmental, and automotive industry regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Proven Experience: Minimum 3–5 years as a General Manager, Service Manager, or Shop Foreman in an automotive repair environment (independent shop, dealership, or quick lube preferred).
- Strong Business Acumen: Experience with daily accounting, P&L statements, inventory management, and driving sales/up-sales.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team of technicians and advisors.
- Customer Focus: Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with a track record of high customer retention.
- Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of automotive repair services, diagnostics, and industry best practices.
- Computer & Tech Skills: Proficient with shop management software (e.g., Mitchell, Shop-Ware, or similar), basic accounting tools, and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace.
- Reliable & Professional: Valid driver’s license, clean background, and professional appearance.
- Local Candidates Preferred: Must be able to work full-time on-site in New Martinsville, WV.
Preferred Qualifications:
- ASE certifications (any level) or willingness to obtain them.
- Experience growing car count and revenue in a competitive market.
- Mechanical background or previous hands-on repair experience.
