New Car Sales Manager | Lexington, Kentucky
Top-performing New Car Sales Managers: if you know how to lead from the desk, protect gross, drive volume, develop Sales Consultants, improve closing ratios and build a high-performance sales culture, Paul Miller Motor Company wants to speak with you.
We are hiring an experienced, results-driven New Car Sales Manager to join our leadership team in Lexington, Kentucky.
This is not a role for someone who simply “runs the floor.” This is an opportunity for a proven automotive leader who understands that successful New Car operations require a balance of volume, gross profit, customer experience, F&I performance, inventory management and team development.
We are looking for a manager who can walk into a busy dealership, establish accountability, raise expectations and immediately begin making the operation better.
The Challenge
A great New Car Sales Manager should be able to walk into an operation and immediately ask:
- Where are we losing gross?
- Are we structuring every deal correctly?
- What is our PVR—and where can we improve it?
- Are we maximizing every qualified sales opportunity?
- What is our closing ratio?
- How effective are our Sales Consultants?
- Who is producing, who needs coaching and who needs accountability?
- Are we properly utilizing incentives without unnecessarily sacrificing gross?
- Are we turning inventory at the right rate?
- Are we converting leads, appointments and showroom traffic at the level we should?
- Are our managers actively involved in every opportunity?
- How do we increase volume without giving away profitability?
If those are the questions you ask every day, this could be the opportunity you've been looking for.
What You'll Lead
You will be responsible for helping drive the overall performance of the New Car Sales Department, including:
- Desking and structuring deals to maximize front-end gross and total dealership profitability
- Protecting PVR while maintaining competitive and sustainable sales volume
- Leading daily sales operations and maintaining a strong management presence on the floor
- Coaching Sales Consultants through the entire sales process
- Improving closing ratios, appointment conversion and showroom performance
- Establishing clear sales expectations and holding the team accountable
- Recruiting, hiring, training and developing Sales Consultants
- Identifying top performers and developing future management talent
- Managing and maximizing new-vehicle inventory
- Monitoring inventory levels, aging, model mix and market conditions
- Working closely with Finance to maximize total dealership PVR
- Partnering with Service and other departments to create a strong customer ownership experience
- Reviewing daily, weekly and monthly performance metrics
- Using data to identify opportunities and correct underperformance
- Creating urgency, accountability and consistency throughout the sales department
- Leading by example and remaining actively involved in deals and customer opportunities
This Is a Producing Management Position
We are looking for a hands-on Sales Manager.
You should be comfortable sitting at the desk, structuring a difficult deal, working a customer, coaching a Sales Consultant through a negotiation and stepping in when necessary to close the business.
The expectation is not simply to manage people.
The expectation is to produce results through people.
You should understand that every deal represents an opportunity to maximize:
Volume + Front-End Gross + F&I Performance + Customer Experience = Total Dealership Profitability
The strongest candidates understand how to balance all four.
What This Role Isn't
This is not a position for a manager who waits for deals to arrive at the desk.
It is not a position for someone who believes volume is the only measurement of success.
And it is not a position for someone who believes gross profit and customer experience are competing objectives.
We are looking for a leader who understands how to sell more vehicles while protecting profitability and developing the people who make that possible.
Who We Want
The ideal candidate has a documented track record of:
- Strong new-car volume and consistent PVR
- Exceptional desking and deal-structuring ability
- Strong closing and negotiation skills
- Developing Sales Consultants into consistent producers
- Recruiting and maintaining a strong sales team
- Managing inventory with discipline
- Understanding manufacturer programs, incentives and market conditions
- Driving profitable volume rather than sacrificing gross simply to hit a number
- Using performance data to identify opportunities and solve problems
- Creating accountability without destroying morale or culture
- Building a professional, competitive and customer-focused sales environment
- Working effectively with Finance, Service and senior dealership leadership
Most importantly, we want someone who wants to win.
The Opportunity
If you are currently a successful New Car Sales Manager, you understand that your success depends on more than the title.
You need:
The right platform. The right leadership. The right inventory. The right team. The authority to lead. And the opportunity to make a measurable impact.
At Paul Miller Motor Company, we are looking for a leader who wants to take ownership of the sales floor, develop a team, improve processes and help take the New Car operation to the next level.
