Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Automotive Service Writer to join our fast-paced repair shop team. In this vital role, you will serve as the primary point of contact between our customers, technicians, and sales team, ensuring a seamless experience from initial vehicle intake to service completion. Your expertise in automotive diagnostics, mechanical knowledge, and customer service will help drive customer satisfaction and loyalty. The ideal candidate is energetic, proactive, and passionate about vehicle and equipment repair and service, ready to communicate technical information clearly and confidently while promoting our comprehensive range of automotive services.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly, listen carefully to their vehicle concerns, and accurately document service requests.
Explain repair procedures, estimated costs, and timelines clearly to customers, ensuring transparency and trust.
Write detailed service orders using auto estimating software, including recommendations for additional services such as oil changes, tire service, brake repair, suspension work, or transmission diagnostics.
Coordinate with technicians to prioritize repairs and ensure timely completion of services like diesel engine repairs, alignments, shocks & struts replacement, or auto body repairs.
Upsell appropriate maintenance services by highlighting benefits such as vehicle longevity and safety enhancements while respecting customer needs.
Handle cash transactions accurately and maintain detailed records of all service activities and customer interactions.
Collaborate with the sales team when applicable to assist in automobile sales or trade-in evaluations based on vehicle condition reports.

Requirements

Proven shop experience with a strong understanding of automotive service management and customer relations.
Knowledge of automotive diagnostics, mechanical systems, and repair procedures including transmissions, air brakes, oil changes, wheel alignments, suspension systems, tire services, shocks & struts, brake repairs, and diesel engine work.
Experience in auto estimating software and service writing with excellent attention to detail.
Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both customers and technicians.
Strong sales skills with a focus on upselling maintenance services while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
Mechanical knowledge gained through mechanic experience or related automotive repair roles is highly desirable.
Excellent cash handling skills combined with a professional attitude towards customer service.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; relevant certifications such as ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) are a plus. Join us in delivering exceptional automotive care! Pay: $18.00 - $30.00 per hour
