Job Overview

About the Shop

Diesel & Auto Solutions (DAS) is a full-service diesel, automotive, and light truck/RV repair shop that's served Joppatowne and the surrounding Harford County area for over 16 years. Our team brings more than 50 years of combined mechanical experience to every job, and as a NAPA AutoCare Center, we back that hands-on expertise with a national parts and support network.

The Opportunity

DAS is creating a new General Manager position to lead the shop's day-to-day operations, sales, and reporting. This is a newly established role reporting directly to the owner, with full oversight of the shop floor, front office, and financial performance — a genuine opportunity to build the shop's operating structure from the ground up, not inherit someone else's system.

What You'll Do

Operations & Team Leadership

● Directly supervise the front-desk/service advisor (customer intake, estimates, and repair order writing) and the technician team (currently 3 diesel/automotive technicians)

● Own daily workflow and job dispatch — assign work, set priorities, and keep bays and technicians productive

● Build and enforce accountability standards, attendance expectations, and quality-control checks across the shop

● Serve as the point of escalation for customer concerns and technical or scheduling conflicts

Sales & Customer Experience

● Oversee estimate accuracy, service recommendations, and close rates on quoted work

● Monitor customer satisfaction and manage relationships with key repeat and fleet customers

● Identify opportunities to grow average repair order value and overall car count

Financial & Reporting

● Manage the shop's P&L performance — labor and parts gross margins, cost control, and overall profitability

● Prepare and present regular operational and financial reports to the owner

● Track key shop performance metrics (car count, effective labor rate, technician efficiency, comeback rate, etc.)

● Manage parts ordering, vendor relationships, and inventory control

What We're Looking For

Required

● 3+ years of experience managing or supervising a repair shop, service department, or similar automotive/diesel operation

● Demonstrated experience overseeing both front-office/service-advisor staff and technicians

● Working knowledge of shop management software (Mitchell 1 experience a strong plus)

● Solid grasp of shop financials — labor/parts gross profit, cost control, and P&L basics

● A hands-on leadership style, with the ability to build structure and accountability where little currently exists

● Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Preferred

● Background in diesel, light truck, or RV repair specifically

● ASE certification(s) or equivalent technical training

● Experience with NAPA AutoCare or a similar aftermarket parts/service program

Compensation

● Base salary: $65,000–$85,000/year, commensurate with experience, plus our Company Profit-Sharing Plan

● Benefits: 401(k) with company match, health, dental, and vision insurance, and paid vacation
