The Opportunity

House Doctors is a growing handyman services franchise (part of Premium Service Brands) launching on Maryland's Eastern Shore, and we're looking for the person who will run it day-to-day. This isn't a desk job — you'll be out in the field across Ocean Pines, Ocean City, Salisbury, Pocomoke City, Snow Hill and surrounding areas: hiring and building our technician team, meeting homeowners to estimate and close jobs, generating leads through local business relationships in a company brand wrapped vehicle, and occasionally picking up tools yourself when a job needs an extra hand.

This role runs with real autonomy — you collaborate with the franchise owner to make the calls that keep the business moving day to day.

What You'll Own

Team building: Recruit, hire, train, and — when necessary — let go of technicians as we grow from our first hires to a full crew
Estimating & sales: Meet with homeowners, scope jobs accurately, and close the sale
Lead generation: Build relationships with local Realtors, property managers, insurance agents, and other referral partners across the Eastern Shore (some leads provided)
Field work: Jump in on jobs yourself when needed — painting, minor repairs, punch-list items — especially in the early ramp-up phase
Operations: Scheduling, vendor/supplier relationships, quality control, and customer follow-up (complete with customer care phone network)
Business development on key service lines, including exterior door replacement and outdoor living additions (screened porches, covered patios), etc

Other activities

Lead and manage the entire construction portfolio, including planning, execution, and completion of projects across multiple sites. Mastering franchise provided ERP and estimating tools.
Develop and implement strategic plans to expand business opportunities, improve operational workflows, and enhance overall profitability.
Oversee project management teams to ensure projects meet quality standards, safety regulations, and client specifications.
Manage profit & loss statements by analyzing financial data in Excel and other tools to optimize revenue streams and control costs.
Drive process improvements through lean management principles to increase efficiency and reduce waste across operations.
Cultivate strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure seamless collaboration and customer satisfaction.
Lead executive-level team meetings, communicate managerial decisions effectively, and foster a culture of continuous development and high performance.

Skills

2+ years of experience in home improvement, remodeling, or a skilled trade — active or eligible-for MHIC (Maryland Home Improvement Commission) license strongly preferred
Experience estimating and closing home improvement or service jobs
Comfortable supervising and making personnel decisions independently
Self-starter who thrives with minimal day-to-day oversight
Strong communicator who can build trust with homeowners and local business partners alike
Hands-on and willing to swing a hammer or hold a paintbrush when the job calls for it
Reliable transportation and willingness to travel daily throughout the Ocean Pines, Ocean City, Salisbury, Pocomoke City, and Snow Hill area; valid driver's license
