The Herb Chambers Companies is seeking an experienced, results-driven Parts Manager to lead our parts department in Massachusetts. We are looking for a strategic and organized leader who is passionate about inventory management, team development, operational efficiency, and delivering outstanding support to both service and retail customers.
Position Overview
The Parts Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the parts department, including inventory control, vendor relations, wholesale and retail sales, team leadership, and financial performance. This role ensures proper inventory levels, maximizes gross profit, and supports the service department in delivering timely, high-quality repairs.
The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type and years and experience within the industry, education, etc.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop parts counter staff and warehouse personnel
- Maintain optimal inventory levels while minimizing obsolescence
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) including gross profit, turns, and fill rate
- Oversee ordering, receiving, stocking, and returns processes
- Ensure accurate inventory control and cycle counts
- Build and maintain strong relationships with manufacturers and vendors
- Support service technicians with timely and accurate parts fulfillment
- Drive wholesale and retail parts sales growth
- Ensure compliance with manufacturer and company policies
- Manage departmental expenses and meet profitability goals
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of automotive parts department leadership experience
- Strong understanding of dealership operations and manufacturer programs
- Proven success managing inventory, margins, and departmental performance
- Experience with dealership management systems (DMS)
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Valid driver’s license
