Duties
- Greet customers warmly and listen carefully to their vehicle concerns to accurately document service needs
- Prepare detailed repair orders and auto estimates using dealership or shop management software
- Communicate effectively with technicians regarding vehicle diagnostics, repairs, and parts requirements
- Upsell additional services such as oil changes, tire rotations, alignments, or brake repairs to maximize customer satisfaction and shop productivity
- Manage customer expectations by explaining repair procedures, costs, and timelines clearly and transparently
- Handle cash transactions, process payments, and maintain accurate financial records
- Coordinate with parts department for availability of necessary parts and ensure timely completion of services
Skills
- Proven dealership experience or auto service management background with a strong understanding of automotive diagnostics and repairs
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build rapport and handle inquiries professionally
- Knowledge of auto estimating software, automotive repair procedures, and mechanical systems including transmissions, suspensions, brakes, oil changes, air brakes, alignments, shocks & struts, diesel engines, tire services, auto body repairs
- Mechanical knowledge related to vehicle maintenance and repair processes such as oil changes, wheel alignments, suspension work, brake repairs and diesel engine diagnostics
- Experience in auto sales or automobile sales environments is a plus
- Ability to upsell services confidently while maintaining customer trust
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation and record-keeping
