FKPS Service Writer Duties
General Expectations
- Work Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM as well as every other Saturday from 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM.
- Show up for work no later than 7:45 AM to allow adequate time to prepare for shop opening (unless other arrangements have been made)
- If time off is required, provide request at least two weeks in advance
- Wear company supplied uniform
- Schedule customer appointments
- Create repair orders
- Perform lot audits weekly
- Check lock box daily
- Assist porters when needed
- Cover service manager duties during time off
Repair Order Creation
- Greet customer in store
- Create work orders accurately documenting customer concerns and requests. Have the customer fill out a diagnostic form if it applies.
- Provide customer a timeline for repair and estimate on cost
- Go outdoors and tag customer unit.
- Take photos of all four corners of unit, VIN number, and odometer (miles/hours). Upload photos to Lightspeed.
- Pass repair order to parts department if parts need to be sold against it
- Pass repair order to service manager for dispatch to shop
- Contact customer with any recommendations from technician and provide and accurate estimate for cost of repair and timeline for repair
- Document which services were approved, cost of services, date of approval, and provided timeline for completion.
- Pass repair order to parts department for parts ordering
- Close repair labor and technician notes once complete. Contact customer to inform of total and completion.
Lot Audit
- Perform a lot audit at least once per week
- Document what units are at the dealership on Google spreadsheet
- Ensure all units at dealership have been accounted for
Lock Box
- Check lock box every morning for keys for any overnight drop offs
- Walk lot to make sure all customer units have been accounted for
Porter Assistance
- Assist porters with detailing and deliveries when needed
Service Manager Time Off
- Cover managerial duties when service manager is out of office
- Cover warranty duties when service manager is out of office
Our ideal candidate:
- Has some experience as a Service Writer (or a similar role), but we’re open to training the right person!
- Loves working with people and making their day a little better
- Can juggle multiple tasks without breaking a sweat
- Has a basic understanding of mechanical terms (but we can teach you!)
- Is comfortable with computers and service-related software
- Pays attention to details and always follows through
- Has a passion for ATVs, snowmobiles, motorcycles, and everything power sports (a big plus!)

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
