Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Automotive Service Manager to lead our family-owned service department. This pivotal role requires a motivated leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, ensuring exceptional customer service while managing daily operations. As the Automotive Service Manager, you will oversee all aspects of automotive repair and maintenance, coordinate with technicians and sales staff, and drive business growth through effective upselling and customer engagement. Your expertise will help maintain our reputation for quality service and foster long-term customer relationships.
Duties
- Manage daily operations of the service department, including scheduling, workflow, and resource allocation to maximize efficiency and customer satisfaction
- Lead, motivate, and supervise service technicians and mechanics to ensure high-quality automotive repairs and diagnostics
- Oversee vehicle maintenance services such as oil changes, brake repairs, alignments, suspension work, tire services, transmission repairs, diesel engine repairs, shocks & struts, air brake systems, and auto body repairs
- Implement effective upselling strategies to enhance revenue while providing honest recommendations for vehicle repairs and maintenance
- Ensure accurate service writing, auto estimating, and documentation of repair orders in compliance with dealership standards
- Maintain excellent customer service by addressing client concerns promptly and professionally
- Monitor inventory levels for parts and tools required for various automotive services
- Handle cash transactions accurately and oversee billing processes related to service work
- Stay updated on automotive industry trends, including advancements in transmissions, diagnostics, and repair techniques
Qualifications
- Proven experience in auto service management or a similar leadership role within an automotive repair environment
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience as a mechanic or service technician preferred
- Expertise in automotive diagnostics across various systems including transmissions, air brakes, suspension, alignment, tire services, diesel engines, shocks & struts, brake systems, and auto body repair
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients
- Proficiency in auto estimating and service writing procedures
- Demonstrated ability to upsell services ethically while maintaining customer trust
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and manage financial records effectively
