Duties
- Manage the daily operations of the service department, including scheduling, workflow coordination, and quality control to ensure efficient service delivery
- Lead and motivate a team of service technicians by providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to foster a collaborative work environment
- Oversee automotive diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance tasks such as oil changes, brake repairs, transmissions, suspension work, tire services, alignments, shocks & struts, diesel engine repairs, air brake systems, and auto body repairs
- Implement upselling strategies by identifying additional services or repairs that benefit customers while increasing departmental revenue
- Handle auto estimating and service writing to accurately assess vehicle issues and communicate repair needs clearly to customers
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and maintain high-quality workmanship across all automotive repair activities
- Manage cash handling procedures and maintain detailed records of all transactions
- Promote excellent customer service by addressing client inquiries promptly and professionally to build trust and loyalty
- Stay updated on the latest automotive technologies and repair techniques to provide expert guidance on vehicle maintenance needs
Experience
- Proven dealership experience with a strong background in auto service management is required
- Extensive knowledge of automotive diagnostics, mechanical systems, transmissions, oil changes, brake systems, alignments, suspension components, tire services, diesel engines, shocks & struts, air brakes, and auto body repair
- Hands-on mechanic experience coupled with service technician expertise is highly desirable
- Demonstrated success in upselling additional services while maintaining customer satisfaction
- Familiarity with auto estimating software and service writing procedures
- Strong background in automotive repair processes including automotive diagnostics and mechanical troubleshooting
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients
- Experience in managing cash handling operations effectively within a busy service environment
