Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of the collision repair shop, including workflow, staffing, and quality control to ensure timely and efficient vehicle repairs.
- Supervise technicians and support staff, providing guidance on auto body repair techniques, safety protocols, and best practices.
- Oversee vehicle damage assessments using computer-aided estimating tools to develop accurate repair plans and cost estimates.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) across the shop.
- Coordinate with insurance adjusters, clients, and vendors to facilitate smooth communication and project progress.
- Monitor inventory of tools, supplies, paints, auto glass, and materials such as aluminum and metal fabrication components.
- Maintain detailed records of repairs, defect root cause analysis, and shop performance metrics to optimize operations.
Experience
- Proven experience managing a collision repair shop or auto body shop with a strong understanding of automotive body refinishing, auto painting, auto restoration, and detailing processes preferred.
- Extensive hands-on knowledge of auto body repair techniques including aluminum work, metal fabrication, paint application, and auto glass replacement.
- Willingness to assist Auto Body Tech with some hands on activities.
- Familiarity with technical tools such as power tools, hand tools, and computer-aided vehicle damage estimating software.
- Prior dealership or collision shop experience preferred; familiarity with heavy lifting equipment and safety regulations essential.
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with experience in vehicle maintenance and auto repair mechanics.
- Excellent client communication skills to explain repair procedures clearly and build customer trust.
- Ability to analyze defect root causes thoroughly to implement effective solutions for ongoing quality improvement.
