Job Overview
We are looking for a leader with a strong background in automotive sales and finance, proven experience managing a high-performing used-car operation, and the ability to develop strategies that increase new vehicle sales, gross profit, customer satisfaction, and overall dealership profitability.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who understands that success comes from building a strong team, maintaining disciplined processes, and holding the sales department accountable.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate, train, and develop the entire sales team.
- Oversee all aspects of the new and used vehicle sales departments.
- Develop and execute strategies to increase new vehicle sales volume and market share.
- Take ownership of the dealership's used-car department, including inventory selection, appraisal strategy, pricing, merchandising, aging, and turn rate.
- Monitor inventory levels, market pricing, days supply, aging, and gross profit.
- Use market data and dealership analytics to make informed inventory and pricing decisions.
- Develop and maintain a strong sales process, from lead management through delivery and follow-up.
- Improve internet lead response times, appointment setting, showroom closing ratios, and overall sales performance.
- Work closely with the Finance Department to maximize PVR while maintaining compliance and a positive customer experience.
- Coach salespeople through individual performance reviews and daily accountability.
- Establish clear expectations and hold the sales team accountable for results.
- Work closely with the General Manager and Dealer to develop monthly and annual sales strategies.
- Maintain a professional, customer-focused sales environment.
- Recruit, train, and retain top sales talent.
- Ensure all sales practices follow dealership policies and applicable state and federal regulations.
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Proven automotive dealership sales management experience.
- Strong understanding of used vehicle operations and profitability.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a sales team.
- Strong knowledge of dealership sales processes and performance metrics.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a high-accountability environment.
- Strong understanding of automotive finance and F&I processes.
Preferred:
- Previous General Sales Manager experience.
- Previous Finance Manager/F&I Manager experience.
- Proven track record of improving used-car volume, gross, and inventory turn.
- Experience working with dealership CRM and DMS systems.
- Experience managing sales managers and a sales team.
- Strong knowledge of digital retailing and internet sales processes.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is more than a desk manager.
The right candidate will be a hands-on leader who understands the numbers, knows how to structure and close deals, understands used-car profitability from acquisition through retail, and can develop a sales team capable of consistently producing results.
You should be comfortable looking at a used-car aging report, reviewing market pricing, analyzing gross profit, working a deal with a salesperson, coaching a manager, reviewing lead performance, and developing a strategy to increase both new and used vehicle sales.
A strong finance background is a major advantage because this position will work closely with the F&I department to improve overall dealership profitability and PVR
Pay: $150,000.00 - $300,000.00 per year
