Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Automotive General Manager to lead our dealership operations with energy, vision, and a customer-centric approach. The General Manager ensures the profitability of the dealership by overseeing the various departments which include variable operations (sales & financing), and fixed operations (service & parts). Duties of the general manager include, but certainly not limited to, planning, motivating and coordinating the dealership’s management through leadership and solid business practices. The General Manager will execute a daily plan to exceed the market in sales volume, F&I PVR, customer RO counts, and guest satisfaction.

Duties

Overseeing the monthly financial statement to ensure company profitability objectives are met or exceeded.
Ensure that a completed financial statement is submitted to the factory by the 5th working day of each month.
Creating cost-effective advertising programs and merchandising strategies for the dealership.
Executing daily goals to exceed market averages in sales, F&I and guest satisfaction
Attention to detail of daily operations, recommending and creating improved courses of action where necessary.
Develop merchandising strategies and assist in creating an effective, cost-efficient advertising program
Coordinate with the business office to ensure that records and analysis are maintained accurately.
Coordinating regular meetings with the managers of each department to ensure their profitability and efficiency.
Focusing on any customer complaints that department managers are unable to rectify and taking the necessary steps to resolve these complaints.
Formulate policies and establish procedures for all training programs and monitor their effectiveness.
Develop and maintain a good working relationship with the factory and lending institutions.
Maintaining an enthusiastic attitude to build positive employee attitudes and morale.
Communicate management’s policies and procedures to all employees and ensure that they are understood and followed.
Oversee all dealership personnel functions, to include; interviewing, hiring, measuring and evaluating performance, recognizing accomplishments, and termination.
Review and approve the compensation plans for all employees.
Ensure that department managers are training and supervising employees for optimum effectiveness.
Ensure that every department operates harmoniously and profitably.
Conduct managers’ monthly meeting
Conduct weekly sales meetings with Sales and Finance Department
Must follow all company safety policies and procedures and immediately report any and all accidents to a manager or supervisor

Qualifications:

High school diploma or the equivalent.
Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
Must have at least two years in a General Manager position
Knowledge of Fixed Operations
Professional personal appearance.
Excellent communication skills in person, on the telephone, and in writing.

All applicants must be able to demonstrate ability to pass pre-employment testing to include background checks, MVR, and valid driver license
Proven experience in dealership management or automotive sales leadership with a strong background in inventory control and retail math.
Demonstrated success in outside sales, B2B negotiations, high-end automobile sales, and upselling techniques.
Proficiency with CRM software systems used in automotive retail environments; familiarity with inventory management tools is preferred.
Excellent communication skills—bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus—to connect effectively with diverse clientele.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
Experience in public speaking or presenting at industry events is advantageous for representing the dealership confidently.
Knowledge of automotive industry standards including dealership operations, inventory management practices, and retail sales processes.
Ability to lead by example in providing exceptional customer service while maintaining professional phone etiquette.

Skills

General Managers should have minimal 2 years previous management experience within the Automotive industry including General Manager experience. Experience in other dealership departments is a plus. They must have strong leadership and organizational skills, and the ability to understand profit and loss statements and manage a large, diverse staff.

General managers also must possess strong communication skills to deal with customers, employees and vendors.

The General Manager is completely responsible for and will be held accountable for the successful operation of the entire dealership. She / he will develop and execute plans to ensure the dealership of a reasonable profit. The General Manager will accomplish all objectives through planning, motivating and coordinating the activities of all departments.
