Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Automotive Service Manager to lead our service department and ensure high-quality vehicle maintenance and repair services. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of automotive service operations, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. This role requires a hands-on approach to managing service technicians, overseeing daily operations, and maintaining the highest standards of vehicle care.
Duties
- Oversee the daily operations of the service department, ensuring efficiency and productivity.
- Manage and mentor service technicians, providing guidance on best practices in vehicle maintenance and repair.
- Coordinate scheduling of service appointments and ensure timely completion of all services.
- Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to identify issues and recommend necessary repairs.
- Utilize mechanical knowledge to assist technicians with complex repairs, including diesel engine repair and air brake systems.
- Prepare accurate auto estimates for customers based on diagnostic assessments and required services.
- Maintain detailed records of all services performed, including parts used and labor hours.
- Foster strong relationships with customers by providing clear communication regarding vehicle status and repair needs.
- Implement training programs for staff to enhance skills in automotive service, mechanical knowledge, and service writing.
- Drive sales initiatives within the service department to promote additional services and products.
Requirements
- Proven experience in auto service management or a similar role within the automotive industry.
- Strong background in vehicle maintenance, including familiarity with diesel engine repair and air brake systems.
- Excellent mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot various automotive issues effectively.
- Proficient in auto estimating and service writing practices.
- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team of service technicians.
- Strong customer service orientation with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Previous experience in automotive sales is a plus but not required.
