Automotive Finance Director (Hands-On / Lead F&I Manager)

Franchised Automotive Dealership

We are seeking a high-performing Automotive Finance Director to lead our F&I department. This is a hands-on leadership role designed for an experienced F&I professional who still enjoys spinning deals while also mentoring, coaching, and managing the F&I team.

This position is ideal for a proven F&I Manager who is ready to step into a leadership role without stepping away from production, or for an experienced Finance Director who prefers to stay actively involved in the deal flow.

Hybrid role: Actively produce deals while overseeing the F&I department
Working leader: Lead by example, not from the sidelines
Direct impact: Influence profitability, compliance, and customer experience daily
People development: Coach and elevate F&I Managers through training and support

Key Responsibilities

Actively structure, present, and close finance and insurance products on deals
Oversee daily F&I operations while maintaining strong lender relationships
Lead, coach, and develop the F&I team to maximize performance and consistency
Ensure all deals are compliant with federal, state, and lender requirements
Monitor and manage department performance, including:
Product penetration
Per-copy averages
Gross profit
CSI scores
Collaborate closely with Sales Management to support smooth deal flow
Maintain accurate and timely completion of all F&I documentation
Assist in onboarding and training new F&I team members

Qualifications

3+ years of Automotive F&I experience required
Prior F&I Director or Lead F&I Manager experience preferred
Proven ability to produce at a high level while leading others
Strong understanding of lender programs, compliance, and product presentation
Confident communicator with a coaching and leadership mindset
Detail-oriented, ethical, and process-driven
Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background screening
