The Service Writer has primary responsibility for working with and assisting Service Manager in scheduling all service requests, making sure all requests are complete and all parts have been ordered in advance where possible. The person filling this position will take the lead in all tracking functions, specifically monitoring the required hours to complete jobs and comparing that to the standard repair time issue to each job. This position will participate in afterhours support and in communicating customer issues as appropriate.
Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
- Managing service sheets /and communicate with technicians and Parts as needed
- Communicate with sales on special requests, including reviewing and following up on sales requests
- Schedule all shop and road technician’s daily work; Post daily current status of jobs in shop area
- Provide (Road/Shop) parts support by having parts documented and ready for use on a daily basis
- Assist in taking service calls and relaying customer issues to Service Manager
- Participate in afterhours/weekend service/parts support rotation
- Parts runner to support field techs and provide backup support to parts as needed
- Potentially loading/unloading of whole goods equipment and seeing that incoming customer equipment is identified
- Assist in seeing that the shop and outside facility areas are keep in an orderly, neat, and safe manner
- If assigned, perform monthly safety inspections and other safety related issues
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must possess strong communication (written and verbal), leadership and management skills, in addition to excellent customer service skills and the ability to assist and train end-users.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet programs.
- The ability to work on long and short-term projects with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment
- The ability to work with engineering, purchasing, marketing, manufacturing, sales and service groups in the qualification and development of new products, product updates, product improvements, MYP, and warranty concerns.
- Clean driving record required
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) required; Some college coursework preferred
