Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Service Manager to lead the automotive service department at a busy dealership in the South Bay Area. Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate the service team, including technicians and service advisors, to deliver outstanding automotive repair and maintenance services.
- Oversee all aspects of service department operations, including workflow management, parts inventory, and scheduling to maximize productivity.
- Ensure high-quality vehicle diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance procedures are performed accurately and efficiently, covering areas such as transmissions, oil changes, brake repairs, suspension work, tire services, alignments, shocks & struts, diesel engine repairs, air brake systems, and auto body repairs.
- Manage customer interactions with professionalism and enthusiasm; address concerns promptly to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Implement upselling strategies by identifying additional service opportunities such as auto estimating, service writing, and recommending necessary repairs or upgrades.
- Maintain accurate cash handling procedures and ensure compliance with dealership policies.
- Monitor technician performance through regular reviews; provide coaching to improve technical skills like automotive diagnostics and mechanical knowledge.
- Collaborate with parts departments to ensure timely availability of parts needed for repairs.
- Uphold safety standards and ensure all team members adhere to environmental regulations and dealership policies.
Experience
- Proven dealership experience with a strong background in auto service management is essential.
- Extensive knowledge of automotive repair techniques across various systems including transmissions, brakes, suspensions, air conditioning systems, diesel engines, and alignments.
- Hands-on experience working as a service technician or mechanic is highly desirable to better understand technical challenges faced by your team.
- Demonstrated ability in auto estimating and service writing to accurately assess vehicle issues and communicate solutions effectively.
- Strong customer service skills with a track record of building rapport with clients while managing multiple priorities efficiently.
- Familiarity with upselling techniques that enhance revenue while maintaining customer trust.
- Knowledge of automotive diagnostics tools and procedures for troubleshooting complex issues quickly.
