Job Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Service Advisor to join our automotive dealership team. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for customers needing vehicle maintenance and repair services. This role involves coordinating service appointments, providing expert guidance on vehicle issues, and ensuring a seamless customer experience. Candidates with dealership experience, automotive diagnostics skills, and a strong background in auto service management will excel in this position. The Service Advisor plays a vital role in maintaining customer satisfaction while promoting additional services and repairs to meet dealership goals.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers promptly and professionally, establishing rapport and understanding their vehicle concerns
- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections and communicate findings clearly to customers
- Prepare detailed service estimates using auto estimating tools and service writing software
- Recommend necessary repairs and maintenance, including oil changes, brake repair, transmission work, suspension, tire service, and more
- Upsell additional services based on customer needs while maintaining integrity and transparency
- Coordinate with technicians to prioritize repairs and ensure timely completion of work
- Handle cash transactions accurately and manage parts orders when necessary
- Follow up with customers post-service to ensure satisfaction and address any concerns
- Maintain detailed records of service history and customer interactions in dealership management systems
Skills
- Proven dealership experience or background in auto service management is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics, mechanical systems, and repair procedures such as oil changes, brake repairs, transmissions, alignments, shocks & struts, diesel engine repair, air brake systems, and auto body repair
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients
- Ability to upsell services ethically while focusing on customer needs and safety
- Proficiency with auto estimating software and service writing tools
- Mechanical knowledge complemented by experience working with service technicians or as a mechanic is advantageous
- Sales skills with a focus on automobile sales and service-related products
- Cash handling experience ensuring accuracy in financial transactions
- Familiarity with automotive repair processes including tire service, suspension work, auto body repairs, and other mechanical repairs
