Job Summary:
The Parts and Service Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the parts and service departments. This role ensures high levels of customer satisfaction, manages inventory, and coordinates trailer maintenance and repair services. The manager will also lead a team of service technicians and parts staff to meet the dealership's goals while maintaining efficient and profitable operations. Pay range could exceed current wages listed, contingent on experience and skillset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Parts Department Management:
- Supervise the ordering, receiving, and inventory control of trailer parts.
- Maintain accurate records of parts inventory and manage stock levels.
- Ensure parts availability for repairs and sales by establishing efficient reordering practices.
- Oversee pricing, promotion, and sale of parts to customers.
- Develop relationships with parts suppliers and negotiate contracts and pricing.
- Service Department Management:
- Supervise and coordinate trailer repairs, servicing, and inspections.
- Ensure timely and efficient servicing of customer trailers.
- Manage service technicians, assign work orders, and ensure quality control.
- Monitor the service schedule to minimize downtime for customer trailers.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and proper handling of equipment.
- Customer Service:
- Provide excellent customer service, acting as a primary point of contact for service and parts inquiries.
- Address customer complaints and service issues promptly and professionally.
- Educate customers on the importance of routine trailer maintenance and parts replacement.
- Team Leadership:
- Hire, train, and manage service technicians, parts staff, and support personnel.
- Conduct performance evaluations, set goals, and provide development opportunities for the team.
- Foster a positive and productive working environment.
- Financial and Business Management:
- Monitor departmental budgets and ensure profitability by managing costs.
- Analyze financial performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies for growth.
- Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote parts sales and service offerings.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with dealership policies, manufacturer requirements, and local regulations.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment, ensuring proper use of tools and adherence to safety protocols.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience in parts and service management, preferably in a trailer or automotive dealership.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
- Knowledge of trailer maintenance, repair processes, and parts inventory management.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Proficiency in dealership management software and inventory control systems.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to handle challenging situations.
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate forklift.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in automotive/trailer repair preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in a dealership or service management role.
- Experience in managing, inventory, and a team of service professionals.
- Management and Leadership experience (required)
Pay: $72,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
