We’re looking for a leader who can turn opportunities into results.
Yonkers Auto Gallery is hiring an experienced Automotive BDC Manager to lead our Business Development Center, strengthen our follow-up process, and increase appointment shows and vehicle sales.
** SATURDAYS WORK DAY IS A MUST **
Prior automotive dealership BDC management experience is REQUIRED. This is not an entry-level position. General customer service or call-center experience alone will not qualify.
We need a hands-on manager who can coach a team, take live calls, overcome objections, recover missed opportunities, and hold the department accountable. You should be just as comfortable speaking with a customer as you are reviewing performance with the General Manager.
Your Responsibilities
Lead, train, and develop the BDC team. Manage daily operations, staffing coverage, activity expectations, and performance. Conduct regular call reviews, role-playing, and individual coaching. Help recruit and onboard representatives, address underperformance, and lead by example on the phones.
Take ownership of incoming leads and ongoing follow-up. Oversee internet, phone, website, third-party marketplace, and social media inquiries. Establish a first-response target of five minutes or less during staffed hours. Make sure every opportunity has an assigned owner, consistent follow-up, and a clear next step. Identify missed calls, unanswered inquiries, and lead-routing problems before opportunities are lost.
Turn conversations into appointments that actually show. Teach representatives to build rapport, understand customer needs, explain vehicle value, and confidently address objections involving pricing, trade-ins, financing, distance, and timing. Keep conversations moving without prematurely dismissing potential buyers or making promises the dealership cannot honor.
Maintain complete CRM accountability. Ensure calls, texts, emails, appointment details, customer concerns, and next actions are accurately documented. Audit overdue tasks, unworked leads, duplicate records, and missed follow-ups daily. “Left a voicemail” should not be the end of the process.
Own appointment confirmation and recovery. Build a consistent confirmation process, verify vehicle availability, and coordinate a prepared handoff to the sales team. Follow up promptly with no-shows, cancellations, and unsold showroom visitors. Develop ongoing campaigns to reengage older leads and customers who were not ready to purchase initially.
Work closely with sales, finance, and management. Keep the showroom informed of arriving appointments and customer expectations. Coordinate vehicle information, walkaround requests, trade-in details, and appropriate next steps for local and out-of-state buyers. Escalate pricing, financing, and customer concerns to the appropriate manager rather than guessing or overpromising.
Know your numbers and improve them. Provide clear daily and weekly reporting on lead volume, response time, contact rate, appointments set, appointments shown, show rate, and BDC-attributed sales. Review results by representative and lead source, maintain accurate attribution, and bring management specific solutions—not just reports.
Required Qualifications
Proven automotive BDC management experience, with demonstrated success supervising representatives and improving appointment and sales conversion. Independent used-car dealership experience is strongly preferred.
Strong command of dealership CRM systems, lead distribution, follow-up workflows, call tracking, and performance reporting.
Excellent phone presence, written communication, objection-handling, organization, and coaching skills. You must be willing and able to personally handle challenging customer conversations.
Professionalism, punctuality, sound judgment, and the ability to enforce standards consistently while building a motivated team. English/Spanish bilingual ability is strongly preferred.
What Success Looks Like
A responsive, organized BDC where customers receive accurate information, representatives follow through, and the sales team knows exactly who is coming in and why.
Success will be measured by meaningful customer engagement, kept appointments, stronger conversion, and attributable sales—not inflated appointment counts or call volume alone.
Customer trust matters. This position requires truthful communication about availability, pricing, and financing, protection of customer information, and respect for communication preferences and opt-outs.
Qualified candidates should be prepared for a brief phone role-play and a discussion of how they would structure their first 30 days leading our BDC.
We are looking for someone who can take ownership, develop people, and help move the dealership forward.
