Position Overview
The General Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily operationsincluding staffing, workflow, customer satisfaction, financial performance, and process implementation. This position works directly with the Owner and has full authority to hire, fire, train, coach, and developteam members.
The ideal candidate is a strong operator who can drive sales, standardize systems, elevate service advisor performance, and ensure both shops stay aligned with company standards.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & People Management
- Oversee Service Advisors, Technicians, Shop Foremen, and support staff
- Full authority to recruit, hire, fire, coach, and disciplineemployees
- Conduct weekly performance meetings and KPI reviews
- Build and maintain a strong, positive shop culture
- Ensure staffing levels meet business needs
Operational Oversight
- Manage the daily workflow and efficiency
- Ensure consistent execution of inspections, estimates, customer communication, and repair processes
- Standardize procedures and install new systems
- Ensure workspace organization, cleanliness, and safety compliance
- Lead and enforce company policies and SOPs
Sales & Financial Performance
- Drive and improve PIA (Presenting Inspection & Advising) sales performance
- Hold service advisors accountable to close rates, estimate accuracy, and ARO goals
- Track and manage shop KPIs including:
- Car count
- ARO
- Gross profit margins
- Technician productivity & efficiency
- Comeback rate
- Work with the owner on budgeting, forecasting, and profit planning
Customer Satisfaction
- Handle major customer escalations beyond service advisor level
- Influence customer experience and retention strategies
- Monitor online reviews and reputation management
Systems & Technology
- Install, document, and refine workflow systems in both stores
- Ensure proper usage of software, scheduling, communications, and reporting tools
Vendor & Equipment Management
- Maintain strong relationships with parts vendors
- Oversee equipment maintenance, calibration, and repair
- Monitor inventory levels across both shops
Qualifications Required:
- 3–5+ years management experiencein an auto repair or dealership service environment
- Proven ability to drive PIA sales, close rates, and ARO growth
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing 10+ employees
- Experience hiring, coaching, and developing service advisors and technicians
- Strong understanding of automotive repair workflows, parts, and estimating
- Ability to read and manage KPIs, reports, and financials
- Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills
Preferred:
- Experience implementing new systems or scaling processes
- ASE or service advisor sales training background
- Multi-location or franchise experience
