Service Advisor
Summary Description
The Service Advisor will report directly to the Parts and Service Director, and acts as the primary liaison between customers and service technicians. They are responsible for greeting customers, listening to their concerns, diagnosing service needs, creating repair orders, estimating costs, and scheduling work. This role requires a strong mix of technical knowledge in motorcycles, exceptional customer service skills, and organizational abilities to manage the service department's workflow.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
Service Department Operations:
- Customer Service & Intake: Greet customers, listen to concerns, and conduct walk-around inspections of motorcycles to note service needs.
- Service Writing & Documentation: Open, manage, and close repair orders (RO) for customer-paid, warranty, and internal work, ensuring all details are accurate.
- Estimation & Communication: Prepare accurate cost and time estimates for repairs and maintenance, obtaining customer approval before proceeding.
- Workflow Coordination: Schedule service appointments and assign jobs to technicians based on skill level and current resource availability.
- Technical Liaison: Translate customer concerns into clear, technical instructions for technicians, and explain repairs in understandable terms to customers.
- Parts & Sales Assistance: Assist with locating, ordering, and posting parts for jobs and help the parts department meet retail sales goals.
- Update & Follow-up: Keep customers informed of repair status, delays, or additional work needed, and ensure timely, professional communication.
- Administrative Duties: Handle cashier functions, manage warranty claims, and maintain up-to-date service records.
- Facilities: Maintain cleanliness of department salesfloor, storage rooms, bathrooms, break area, 3rd floor storage and outside service area

Qualifications and Job Requirements:
- Technical Knowledge: Knowledge and experience with servicing Harley-Davidson/Buell Motorcycles, and other products sold by the dealership, or the ability to quickly learn them
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate complex technical issues.
- Computer Literacy: Experience with point of sale and Parts and Service Management computer software or the ability to quickly learn them
- Customer-First Mindset: Strong interpersonal skills to build trust, resolve complaints, and ensure high customer satisfaction.
- Licensure: Preferred ability to have or obtain motorcycle license
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and, in some cases, move/balance heavy motorcycles.
Working Conditions:
- Frequently works near moving mechanical parts
- Potentially exposed to battery acid, gasoline, chemical cleaning materials or toxic materials commonly found in a motor vehicle service department
- Occasionally exposed to exhaust fumes or airborne particles
- Working in both indoor and outdoor settings where temperature/weather conditions are unpredictable
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
- Occasionally required to bend, stoop, crouch, reach, and handle tools.
- Occasionally requires the ability to lift 50 pounds of material.
- Occasionally requires the ability to balance and push a motorcycle.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.00 - $18.00 per hour
