Position Overview
We are seeking a proven General Manager to lead overall dealership performance and day-to-day operations. This role is responsible for driving profitability, developing strong department leadership, enforcing process discipline, and delivering an exceptional customer experience. The ideal candidate is hands-on, metrics-driven, and capable of building accountability while creating a productive, positive culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all dealership operations across Variable and Fixed departments to achieve volume, gross, and CSI goals
- Own the store P&L and performance cadence, including forecasting, expense control, and execution plans
- Recruit, develop, and hold accountable department leaders (Sales, F&I, Service, Parts, and Accounting)
- Drive a consistent, compliant customer experience from first contact through delivery and post-sale follow-up
- Establish KPI standards and review performance daily/weekly (appointments, close rate, gross, ELR, CP hours, effective labor rate, parts GP, recon cycle time, inventory turn)
- Oversee inventory strategy, pricing discipline, merchandising standards, and used car performance
- Ensure clean deal structure, funding readiness, and compliance with dealership and regulatory requirements
- Partner with Fixed Ops leadership to improve throughput, quality, and profitability while minimizing comebacks
- Maintain strong relationships with OEM partners and ensure dealership standards and reporting requirements are met
- Implement and reinforce SOPs to improve consistency, efficiency, and customer satisfaction
Qualifications
- 5+ years of automotive dealership leadership experience with demonstrated results
- Prior General Manager experience strongly preferred (or proven track record as GSM/Fixed Ops Director)
- Strong understanding of dealership financials, variable/fixed operations, and performance drivers
- Proven ability to build culture, develop leaders, and enforce accountability without sacrificing customer experience
- Strong CRM/process discipline and comfort leading through metrics and reporting
- High integrity, professional communication, and strong decision-making ability
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
