Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable, hands-on Service & Operations Manager to oversee daily service department operations while actively participating in vehicle inspections, test drives, and repair coordination. This is not a desk-only role—this position requires leadership, accountability, and the ability to step in wherever needed to keep operations running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
Service Department Management
- Oversee all daily service department operations
- Schedule and prioritize repair orders and workflow
- Ensure quality control on all completed work
- Coordinate with technicians to maintain efficiency and productivity
- Maintain compliance with company and safety standards
Vehicle Operations & Test Driving
- Perform test drives to diagnose vehicle issues
- Verify repairs and ensure vehicles are road-ready
- Assist with vehicle pickups, repossessions, and transfers as needed
- Evaluate drivability and identify mechanical concerns
Team Leadership
- Supervise and support technicians and service staff
- Provide training, direction, and accountability
- Maintain a productive, positive work environment
Customer & Internal Communication
- Communicate repair needs, timelines, and costs clearly
- Work closely with sales and finance departments
- Ensure excellent customer service and issue resolution
Administrative Duties
- Monitor parts usage and coordinate ordering
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation
- Track department performance and control costs
Qualifications
- Previous experience in automotive service management or similar role
- Strong mechanical knowledge and diagnostic skills
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Ability to test drive and evaluate vehicle performance
- Leadership experience in a shop or dealership environment
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Experience with dealership software (Frazer preferred, but not required)
Preferred Qualifications
- BHPH dealership experience
- Transmission and drivability diagnostic experience
- Experience handling repossessed or high-mileage vehicles
