We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Maintenance Manager to lead our auto parts manufacturing facility’s maintenance operations, including troubleshooting, personnel, preventative maintenance programs and facility safety to maximize equipment uptime and minimize downtime. Key responsibilities involve leading technicians, managing budgets & spare parts inventory, and implementing Total Productive Maintenance, primarily for our Wixom location while supporting our Farmington Hills location. Your leadership will drive continuous improvement initiatives, optimize maintenance strategies, and uphold safety standards across the plant. Responsibilities
- Equipment Reliability: Develop, implement, and oversee preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance programs and monitor equipment performance metrics to identify areas for efficiency improvements and cost reduction initiatives.
- Team Leadership: Hire, train, supervise, and mentor maintenance team, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere to industry compliance standards, OSHA, EPA, and local regulations for quality, safety, and environmental impact. Develop, implement, and continuously improve upon internal protocols that align with these standards and regulations.
- Budget & Inventory Management: Manage maintenance budgets, forecast spare parts needs, maintain spare parts inventory & communicate with our Purchasing Manager regarding needs in a timely manner.
- Operational Optimization: Strong time and project management capabilities to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining quality standards. Collaborate with production team to plan and execute projects related to equipment maintenance and upgrades, facility improvements, process enhancements, and support installation or optimization of new equipment. Schedule timely repairs, facilities management tasks, and maintenance activities while minimizing downtime and optimizing working conditions.
- Reporting: Maintain accurate, detailed, up-to-date records of work orders, maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and compliance documentation to analyze KPIs to improve standards & performance.
Key Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Generally, 3–10+ years of industrial maintenance experience, with 2+ years of demonstrated management success and a track record of leading diverse teams effectively within auto parts or similar production environments.
- Education: High school diploma/GED is required; Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field is preferred.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems with the ability to diagnose issues; experience with PLCs and robotic systems is highly preferred. Confidence & comfort with equipment, products, processes, reliability & CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System). Proficient computer skills in spreadsheets; databases and word processing.
- Equipment Knowledge: ACME and Davenport screw machines, Komatsu stamping servo presses, and quality control and assurance equipment are highly preferred.
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership, coaching, time management & problem solving skills; clean, self motivated, results orientated with a hands on work ethic; excellent communication skills to use with your team, vendors, and in a cross-functional capacity while using professional etiquette; detail oriented and organized for maintaining accurate, up-to-date records.
Typical Salary & Employment
- Salary: Competitive pay will be determined based on experience and knowledge.
- Schedule: Full-time, usually Monday-Friday, but often requires flexibility to respond to emergencies, minimize downtime and manage multiple shifts.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
- Daily exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, extreme temperatures, humidity, darkness, and noise.
- Daily exposure to physical risks, such as working around mechanical, chemical, and electrical hazards.
- Requires the ability to stand, sit at a desk, walk around office and plant, lift and carry packages up to 50 pounds, and reach, kneel, crawl and twist to inspect equipment.
- Use of fine dexterity movements
