Vehicle Sales Manager

Established automotive dealership is seeking an experienced and results-oriented leader to assist with sales operations. This position is responsible for driving department performance, managing inventory, supporting deal structure, and developing a high-performing sales team.

The ideal candidate combines strong leadership skills with a thorough understanding of dealership operations, pricing strategy, and deal profitability. Our new manager will need to maintain a polished, premium purchasing experience that reflects the expectations of today’s discerning automotive customers.

Job Responsibilities

Provide daily direction, coaching, and accountability for the pre-owned sales team.
Establish clear performance expectations and help the department achieve monthly sales, gross profit, and customer satisfaction objectives.
Conduct ongoing training related to vehicle knowledge, sales processes, negotiation techniques, and dealership procedures.
Review individual and team performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and provide practical coaching to strengthen results.
Create a positive, competitive, and customer-focused sales environment.

Deal Management and Profitability

Structure and desk pre-owned vehicle transactions while balancing customer needs, competitive pricing, and dealership profitability.
Review deal documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with dealership policies.
Partner with the finance department to move transactions efficiently from agreement through final delivery.
Monitor discounts, trade values, gross profit, and other deal components to support sound business decisions.
Assist sales personnel with negotiations and complex transactions when needed.

Required Experience

Previous automotive sales management experience, preferably involving pre-owned vehicle operations.
Strong knowledge of inventory management, vehicle valuation, pricing, desking, and dealership sales processes.
Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and hold a sales team accountable.
Strong negotiation, communication, and customer resolution skills.
Ability to analyze performance data and make informed business decisions.
Organized, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced dealership environment.
A leadership style focused on integrity, professionalism, teamwork, and measurable results.
